Christine’s Reflections

Christine’s Week 3 Reflections

This week I found the readings to be very dense, but getting through them proved worth it when I was able to extrapolate some great ideas about culture and community.  I am still not sure what to choose for my midterm writing.  I feel like I need to understand the assignment a little better before I commit to a topic.  Once again, I’d like to thank you all for staying connected despite our limited group requirements this week.

I’m still trying to navigate the blog.  I have a compulsive need for organization and right now I’m feeling like our posts are a little all over the place… or maybe just mine.  Ha!

Week 2

Christine says:

This week really centered around trying to get the hang of being a mom to two AND a contributing group member simultaneously – these are the first courses (6706 also) I have taken since my son arrived! I was thankful that Jim initiated the group formation and invited me into the group with Tish and Kathi. I was immediately comfortably working with colleagues that I have worked with before. I am also thankful that Jim took the initiative to start our blog, and now that I have admin privileges (if I can figure out how to access them), I will spend some more time navigating around. I still have no idea what I need to do with the class wiki. I think there is something to the “mommy brain” myth. Hopefully I have fulfilled this week’s requirements… I’m feeling a little out of sorts.

    Hey Chrissy,

Glad to see you back in class, and glad to have you as part of the team! My 3 little ones are always pulling at me, I find myself sitting at the computer at 5 AM so that I stay out of the dog house!

You guys are so funny…you bring back such vivid memories. My “baby” is 22 and I remember trying to have a life during those early years…what a joke!! I’m impressed with how you, both, achieve such high goals and be great parents, too. Hat’s off to ya!!

    Christine,
I agree with Kathi on both points. I don’t seem to have Admin rights yets. When I get them, I will work on this site. I have read most of the documentation about this site and some of the things we can’t do because we have the free version. The other point I agree with is your posting about a course in two languages, what a great idea. I also need more information about this mid-term article and where to publish it, to get started.
I hope you have a good team in 6706. I would not have made it without the peer support we had in that class.
    Good luck,
    Tish

Tish, there are only five of us in 6706 this term! It’s so strange to have such a small group. So far everyone seems very supportive, but it really limits the discussion and feedback. I might be using you guys to peer review my proposal!

It’s not just you, Christine. I tried to categorize our options for places to post our reading summaries, weekly reflections, etc.I’m not sure it helped…maybe someone can organize it better. I think your question on the class discussion board about Culture and Language would be a consideration as a topic for your midterm. I’ve never even thought of the question, let alone, read anything about it. Maybe?
