Kathi’s Week 4 Reflection

Posted on July 21, 2012 by

Am I in the right course? I’ve made more mistakes getting my postings to the right classmates straight than I ever have in the past. I’m in a group in another class that is using Sync In to post our individual drafts to compile for a group project. I accidentally suggested Christine use Sync In (wrong class) to post her midterm outline/title draft. I’m still laughing about that.

This week’s reading assignments were interesting (even though we didn’t have to use the info gleaned for assignment postings). I’m saving many as bookmarks for later use. There were many key points to highlight, for me. Information on facilitating a virtual meeting was very interesting, mainly, because I’ve not practiced some of the recommended suggestions (like planning for obstacles, etc.).

Maybe this week, we can have our blog organized so that we can post, originally, under the category that is appropriate, instead of always the home page. Novel idea!! I have great ideas with minimal expertise. Isn’t that always how it happens?

I’ve been collecting resources for use in my midterm paper. I appreciate links suggested by Christine and Tish that I’ve saved.

Moving right along and looking forward to a great week next week!!!

Kathi’s Reflections of Week 3

Posted on July 14, 2012 by

This past week has been very interesting, although frustrating. I loved the readings, especially focusing on community, teamwork, collaboration…all the “hot points” of my passion for online learning.

My frustration presented whenever I tried to do the Midterm Prep part of the week. I’m grateful to have our group to bounce “bell-ringer” midterm drafts for peer review (or scour, in my case). Even though this paper will be an individual submission, believe me, we can all help each other be the “best I” we can be. (she said jokingly)

I love how our group stayed connected, even though we didn’t have a group assignment/project to complete.

I’m finishing up the week by reviewing more of the sample papers posted by the professor. So, the week started with nervous about what was involved in the assignments/readings, then moved to relief as my readings were completed and discussions were posted. Now I see that, as of today, Dr. Datta posted a link in reference to mLearning (my biggest exciting challenge to learn about). So I feel challenged to learn and envision implementing this new-found tool for the building of my online course.

Week 2

My reflections of week 2 of this class are filled with many emotions. Some days I had overwhelming feelings of getting behind with deadlines. Other days I felt very organized and “point on”. Our group came together very easily and participation was equal among all of us. We each volunteered for activities and reading summaries. The most frustrating part of the week is what I’ve experienced today…waiting for admin. acceptance or owner/moderator permission to post on our group blog and our class wiki (PBWorks). We still have decisions to make, as a group, and we will in plenty of time prior to the weekly deadline. My favorite part of this week has been working closely with awesome fellow classmates in this group!!!! Yea US…Cozy Group 2!!!

Tish, quite exciting news. I can’t imagine being at a techie conference where the tech connections are weak – how embarrassing for Blackboard. Hope you met the finish line this week happy and satisfied. Congratulations on your Bb Collaborate accomplishments! Can’t wait to hear more about how this will affect your learning and the learning of others. Perhaps this is the topic for your midterm…and you most likely know where it could be published. ~ Datta Kaur
